Recognizing that children and families cannot thrive when their basic needs go unmet, WFGM launched the Food & Essentials Hub in 2024 at Booker T. Washington Community School in collaboration with FedEx, Feed the Children and Memphis-Shelby County Schools.

The Hub provides students and families with access to food staples, household products, hygiene items and educational supplies—all at no cost and conveniently located within their community school.

By helping families meet basic needs, the Hub supports children both inside and outside the classroom.

Since its launch:

• An estimated 3,000 students and more than 1,000 families have received direct support.
• More than 500 winter coats have been distributed to children and youth.
• More than 120 schools, including Memphis-Shelby County Schools and charter schools, have received items from the Hub.
