WFGM Announces Record-Breaking $2 Million Investment in Memphis
41 local nonprofit organizations will receive funding to support women, children and families across Memphis.
The Women’s Foundation for a Greater Memphis (WFGM) is investing a record-breaking $2 million in 41 local nonprofit organizations for the 2026–2027 fiscal year, the largest grant investment in the Foundation’s history.
The investment comes as WFGM begins Vision 2030, its new five-year strategic plan, following the completion of Vision 2025. Through its grantmaking, WFGM will continue supporting programs that create opportunities for women, children and families and strengthen communities across Memphis.
“This $2 million investment represents the Women’s Foundation’s continued commitment to bringing resources, leadership and partnership to the organizations and neighborhoods we serve,” said Shante K. Avant, WFGM President and CEO. “We know that strong communities are built through collaboration, and we are proud to invest in 41 nonprofit partners whose work on the ground every day is helping women, children and families thrive across Memphis.”
Investing in Memphis The 2026–2027 grant investments support five focus areas:
Case Management and Wraparound Services
Early Childhood Development
Job Skills, Employment and Entrepreneurship
Youth Development and Employment
Financial Education and Asset Building
The 41 grantee partners represent organizations working throughout Memphis to provide critical services, create pathways to employment and entrepreneurship, support children and families, and strengthen financial stability.
The new grant cycle also welcomes several new WFGM grantee partners, expanding the Foundation’s network of organizations working to address community needs.
Building on Five Years of Investment The $2 million investment builds on the results of Vision 2025, WFGM’s recently completed five-year strategic plan.
During Vision 2025, WFGM invested $8.2 million across Memphis and reached 74,710 individuals.
Over the five-year period, WFGM investments:
Supported 14,355 youth through development and leadership programs
Connected 9,029 individuals with job skills training
Provided 14,425 people with case management and wraparound services
Engaged 5,378 community members in financial literacy and asset-building programs
As WFGM begins Vision 2030, the Foundation will build on the partnerships, lessons and community investments developed through Vision 2025 while continuing to support solutions that strengthen Memphis families and expand opportunity.
