Launched in 2016, the Women’s Foundation for a Greater Memphis Young Women’s Initiative–Memphis (YWI-Memphis) works to increase access to opportunity, economic security, safety and leadership opportunities for young women of color.

In partnership with the YWCA of Greater Memphis, the 2025–2026 YWI-Memphis cohort supports 23 young women while cultivating the next generation of leaders.

Through the Young Women’s Advisory Council (YWAC), participants build their knowledge of advocacy, philanthropy and civic engagement. This year, members participated in Bold and Brave Advocacy Day at the Tennessee State Capitol and attended local Shelby County Commission meetings.

YWAC members also put their philanthropic leadership into action by awarding $15,000 in participatory grant funding to Angel Street Memphis.
