Opening Doors to Opportunity Through Workforce Training
At the Women’s Foundation for a Greater Memphis, we believe opportunity should never be out of reach because of financial barriers or life’s unexpected challenges.
Through our Vocational Scholarship Program, WFGM has invested more than $2.5 million to help remove barriers to postsecondary education and workforce training by covering critical needs such as tuition, childcare, and transportation.
For many individuals and families, overcoming even one obstacle — like a flat tire, childcare expense, or transportation issue — can mean the difference between completing a program or falling behind. By helping remove those barriers, WFGM is creating pathways to opportunity at institutions including Southwest Tennessee Community College, Moore Tech, Code Crew, the Tennessee College of Applied Technology, and Memphis Welding School.
These investments are helping individuals strengthen their careers, support their families, and create brighter futures.
Recently, students at Moore Tech gathered to celebrate graduates and recognize the continued generosity of the Women’s Foundation for a Greater Memphis. Through scholarships and wraparound support, WFGM is helping expand workforce opportunities and access to high-demand career pathways.
As one Moore Tech student shared:
“Balancing full-time work while attending night classes can be very difficult at times. I work hard and do my best every day, so receiving this support has taken a huge weight off my shoulders.”
This is what investing in opportunity looks like — and this is how we move Memphis forward.
