ABC 24 Honors WFGM Founder Mertie Buckman this Women's History Month

During Women’s History Month, ABC 24 honored the legacy of Women’s Foundation of Greater Memphis (WFGM) founder Mertie Buckman in a special video spotlight.

The piece highlights Buckman’s deep belief in investing in women and children as a way to strengthen the entire community, as well as her lasting influence on philanthropy in Memphis. It also reflects on how her vision helped launch the WFGM that has now invested more than $39 million in programs supporting low-income women and children. Beyond her generosity, the story captures Buckman’s warmth, leadership, and ability to inspire others to take action. We are grateful to ABC 24 and journalist Alicia Renea for sharing Mertie Buckman’s remarkable story and helping shine a light on her enduring impact.
