WFGM Announces $1.9 Million in Grants—Our Largest Commitment Yet
The Women’s Foundation for a Greater Memphis (WFGM) is making its largest investment to date—granting $1.9 million to 36 local nonprofits and funding advocacy and research initiatives.
Since its inception in 1995, WFGM has granted more than $39 million to 185 local nonprofits—with a strong focus on advancing social and economic mobility for women and families.
Guided by the Vision 2025 strategic plan, WFGM is committed to creating meaningful change through a place-based investment strategy in five Memphis neighborhoods over five years.
“Our goal is to positively impact the lives of more than 10,000 individuals annually by advancing the economic and social mobility of women and families,” said Shante K. Avant, WFGM President and CEO. “This is our final stage of Vision 2025, and we are proud of the progress we are making with our partners for women and families in this community.”
As part of this strategy, WFGM funds grantee partners offering programs in five key areas:

Since 2020, WFGM’s investments have created lasting impact across Memphis, including:
- 10,172 individuals receiving case management and wraparound services
- 4,049 children and parents participating in early childhood programs
- 6,403 youth engaged in development and leadership programs
- 5,898 individuals completing job skills training
- 114 individuals launching a business or micro-enterprise
- 1,666 individuals participating in financial education and asset-building programs
