$1.5 Million in Grants Awarded to 34 Organizations

The Women’s Foundation for a Greater Memphis (WFGM) announced its 2022-2023 Annual Grant Cycle awarding 34 organizations nearly $1.5 million. This marks the organization’s highest year-to-date investment in the community.

With over $34 million in grantmaking efforts throughout the Foundation’s 27-year tenure, this latest round of grantmaking has reaffirmed its leadership and dedication to investing in pathways for long-term solutions in neighborhoods throughout the Memphis community.

“We are proud to report our $1.5 million investment in the community by supporting organizations that share our vision for economic self-sufficiency for women and children,” said WFGM President and CEO Ruby Bright. “These grants will expand the reach and presence of community-based solutions – generating impact aligned with the Foundation’s strategic priorities.”

The Foundation’s Vision 2025 Strategic Plan is to increase investment and reduce poverty in five Memphis neighborhoods by 2025. The plan focuses on organizations supporting families in the following areas: case management and wraparound services; job skills, employment and entrepreneurship; early childhood development; youth development and employment; and financial education and asset building.

The Foundation has expanded its Two-Generation Approach to reducing poverty from zip code 38126 to work with organizations supporting women and children and operating programs in four additional neighborhoods including zip codes 38105, 38106, 38107, and 38108.
